Being a computer science student is one of the best feelings but also one of the hardest as well.

Welcome to the Blog. I want to start off by talking about what being a computer science student is like, especially at a big university in California.

“Computers are incredibly fast, accurate, and stupid. Human beings are incredibly slow, inaccurate, and brilliant. Together they are powerful beyond imagination.”- Albert Einstein, physicist

Studying computer science is being part of a constant technological revolution. You are never going to be bored of because you will always be learning.

The Best Parts:

The best part of studying computer science is creating something that has the capability of doing something that a human could never do and at 2X the speed. You are also never going to be bored because the sheer amount of education in the world is absolutely amazing, there is always going to be a new project that will give you something new to learn about. Computer science can be applied to literally any aspect of life, health, politics, cars, and so much more. Nowadays, every single aspect of our lives is dependent on technology and therefore computer science. The very laptop I am writing this from is one of the best technologies in the world.

The Hard Part:

Like with every profession we also have the hard parts. For example when you get stuck with a bug and have to go through over 200 lines of code to only figure out you were missing a semi-colon. Also this field is cutthroat and extremely competitive so you have to always be learning and polishing up your resume. It is not a stagnant field where we have already learned everything we can learn and therefore you must also always be learning. However, through all of the hard parts the best shine through a lot more.

So now that we have compared the best and hard parts of the field, what is it like to study computer science at a big university in California?

Well California is the hub of technology and therefore it's pretty hard. The pace and sheer amount of content is crazy. I won't lie trying to adjust to college life has been hard. It is not at all what is shown in the movies, but I much prefer it this way. Being constantly challenged means I am growing every single day and thus I will be able to perform better in the industry. I know that college is meant to be some of the most fun years of your life, but for me so far it's been quite hard. I have built skills like discipline as well as learning to be generous with myself. Learning from mistakes is one of the biggest skills I have learned so far. Studying computer science is quite hard because you are constantly writing projects where you sometimes have no idea of what you are writing about, but as you code you learn. That is one of the most gratifying feelings ever. So if you decide to study computer science I highly recommend you be ready for the ride of your life.
